Brandi Carlile Looks Out for Local Grassroots Organizations on her BEAR CREEK Summer Revue Tour

This summer sees Brandi Carlile embarking on a major headlining tour in support of her 4th studio album BEAR CREEK. However, Carlile is taking a fresh approach to touring this time round by using her Looking Out Foundation to support and help raise awareness for grassroots organizations in every city she plays in.

“Cause Of The Day” was inspired by the success of Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair and its outreach. Carlile recalls the “lasting impact it had on the community before, during and after the fair left town”. Tired of “only leaving the tour bus in search of the nearest Starbucks” Brandi and her band felt they had a social and moral responsibility to look a little further. “I think it’s really important to honor our fans on the road by giving something back to their local communities” says Carlile.

Practicing what they preach, Carlile and her Foundation set up the Cause Of The Day project by recruiting a Street Team made up of Brandi Carlile fans across the country and asked them to nominate local causes they believe in. “It was such a rewarding process, hearing how these small, grassroots organizations have helped so many people on a personal and profound level”.

The chosen organizations will be armed with their mission statements, a mailing list and a table to set up an info stand at each concert. In addition, Carlile has every intention of engaging and encouraging her fans interest by giving the Cause Of The Day an honorable mention on stage; “not that I will need to” Carlile concedes, “if this project has proved anything, it’s that my fans are innate activists and notoriously generous with their time – still, it feels good to use my loud mouth for something other than singing!”

The Looking Out Foundation launched Cause Of The Day with MN United to coincide with the first stop in Minneapolis on the BEAR CREEK Summer Revue Tour on June 20th.
